What this includes
Pragmatic solutions for imminent threats.
As an independent advisor and systems integrator, we help you select, procure, integrate, maintain and operate the specialist capabilities you need — matched to your environment, not to any single manufacturer.
In today's world, we live under constant pressure from the many imminent threats that surround us at any given moment. Governments and corporations around the globe must monitor, detect, and face them in time. At Griffon Risk Management we are fully aware of the situation, and we work passionately, 24/7, in a constant search for new pragmatic and efficient solutions to the complex risk challenges our customers face. We have broad experience helping our clients implement large, complex, multidisciplinary technology projects.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
We help you select and procure the right professional UAV platforms for your mission, then handle integration into your operations, ongoing maintenance and updates, and operator training. As an independent advisor we specify the best-fit systems rather than a single product line, and keep you compliant with aeronautical law — including the Specific Operational Risk Assessment (SORA) required for critical operating scenarios.
Platforms & capabilities
Secure Communications
Resilient, secure communications are vital as threats rise. We advise on, source and integrate deployable, mission-critical network solutions — then keep them running with maintenance, updates and training. Matched to your operating scenarios — remote and rural locations, defense, security forces, public missions and mobile networks in transit — we specify multi-technology, software-defined systems that scale to any mobile infrastructure requirement, independent of any single vendor.
Ad Hoc Secure Communication Networks
Counterintelligence
Counterintelligence addresses the threats posed by hostile intelligence services and organizations, or by individuals engaged in espionage, sabotage, subversion, terrorism or other non-traditional activity. We assess your exposure, then source, integrate and maintain the right detection and denial solutions — and train your people to use them correctly.
Our solutions
Border Control Systems
Modern border control combines physical infrastructure, digital databases, biometric verification and remote surveillance to manage traveler flow and secure national boundaries. We advise on the right mix of systems, manage their procurement and integration, and support them over time with maintenance, updates and operator training — independent of any single supplier.
Systems & capabilities
Across every specialist area, Griffon stays independent of manufacturers — we advise, procure, integrate, maintain, update and train, so the capability keeps working long after it is delivered. If you have a requirement that doesn't fit a standard category, talk to our team.
Specialized Training — built to keep your people safe and your duty of care met.
Griffon equips your people with the knowledge and skills to operate safely in demanding environments, combining necessary theory with realistic, hands-on practice. Our training exists for one reason: so your staff can travel, work, and return home safely — and so your organization can demonstrably meet its duty of care.
Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT)
For professionals and organization staff working in medium- to high-risk or remote locations. Covers situational awareness, global and local threats, travel safety, personal security, conflict management and de-escalation, kidnapping and hostage awareness, first aid, crisis management, communications, and information security — reinforced through realistic scenario exercises and emergency drills.
Modules
Personal Safety Awareness Training (PSAT)
For individuals whose work takes them into risk areas. Focuses on assessing travel risk, understanding personal vulnerability and risk-perception thresholds, practical measures to reduce exposure, and how to react to and reduce the impact of a critical incident.
Focus areas
Hostile-Environment and Tactical Medical
For staff, responders, and security professionals who may need to act before help arrives. Internationally recognized certifications — TECC, TCCC, PHTLS, HEFAT, and standard First Aid/CPR/AED — focused on the realities of responding to injury under pressure and in remote settings.
Certifications
Protective and Defensive Driving
For staff, drivers, and fleet operators. Hazard recognition and avoidance, defensive and all-terrain techniques, and safe operation across the range of conditions our clients actually face. Available for private, corporate, and organizational clients.
Techniques
Every course is scoped to your operating environment and risk profile, delivered by our instructors and mobile training teams at locations worldwide. If you have a requirement that doesn't fit a standard course, talk to our team.
How we choose our work, and how we do it.
The sensitive nature of our services demands a clear ethical line. It shapes who we work with and how we conduct every engagement.
We hold ourselves to recognised international standards and to the law wherever we operate — and to a simple principle: the work we do should leave people and communities safer, not worse off.
Because of the nature of what we do, we are deliberate about the clients we take on. Griffon evaluates the legitimacy of every potential client and completes a formal due-diligence process before offering any service.
Client due diligence
Given the sensitive nature of our services, we assess legitimacy, intent, and legal standing before any engagement begins. It protects our clients, our people, and the communities we work in — and it is not negotiable.
Griffon Risk Management contributes to sustainable human development — through the commitment and confidence of the company toward its collaborators, toward society in general, and toward the local community — with the aim of improving social capital and the quality of life of the whole community.
Integrity
We give honest counsel, including when it isn't what a client hoped to hear.
Legality & compliance
We operate within the law of every jurisdiction in which we work.
Discretion
Confidentiality is fundamental to the trust our clients place in us.
Proportionality
Measures are matched to real risk — never fear, and never theatre.
Duty of care
The safety of people, our clients' and our own, comes first.
Community
We work to leave the places we operate in better than we found them.
The frameworks we align our work to.
Our conduct is governed by recognised international standards and by the law wherever we operate:
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols
- Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights
- Laws of the territories where we operate
- ISO 31000 — Principles of Risk Management
- International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (ICoCA)
- WGC Conflict-Free Gold Standard
Tell us the operating picture.
Whether you're planning an expansion, moving people and product, or responding to something already underway — start a confidential conversation with our team.
The more we understand about where you operate and what you're trying to achieve, the faster we can be useful. A short note about your situation, locations, and timeline is the ideal place to start.
Case Studies
The nature of our work is confidential. Below is the kind of engagement we take on — detailed, anonymised case studies are available on request.
Much of what we do cannot be named. Our clients come to us with problems they would rather the world never heard about, and discretion is part of what they are buying. For that reason we do not publish client identities, or the specifics of live or sensitive engagements.
What we can share is the shape of the work. The following case studies highlight our team’s international engagements, showcasing how we navigate complex multicultural environments and deploy tailored global strategies.
Confidential by default
We treat every engagement as confidential from first contact.
Counter-smuggling & brand protection — veterinary products
A global manufacturer of veterinary / animal-health products.
The challenge
The manufacturer found expired product being distributed illegally in one of its markets, with the printed expiry dates altered — putting brand reputation, regulatory standing and animal safety at risk. We were asked to establish how it was getting there.
How we worked
We traced the product back to its true origin rather than its point of sale. The stock came from unsold inventory originally destined for a different market and routed to a third-party contractor for destruction. Weak controls in that destruction process let a criminal organisation divert the stock — a batch of cattle vaccines — alter the expiry dates, and smuggle it into the client's market.
Outcome
We exposed the full diversion route and the control failure behind it, giving the client the evidence to protect its brand, close the gap in its disposal chain, and prevent a recurrence.
Secure journey management — market-entry travel
A client assessing market potential in the premium cigar / tobacco sector.
The challenge
Our client needed to travel into an emerging, higher-risk market to assess its potential in the premium cigar and tobacco sector — meeting growers, suppliers and partners on the ground. They had to move efficiently and safely, without a local footprint of their own.
How we worked
We provided end-to-end Secure Journey Management: building the business and leisure agenda, negotiating with every service provider, and running day-to-day operations on the ground. We arranged secure ground transportation and air charter, coordinated each movement, and kept traveller safety and security covered throughout the trip.
Outcome
The client completed a full market-assessment programme on schedule, met the people that mattered, and travelled throughout without incident — with risk managed quietly in the background.
Threat analysis & workforce protection — infrastructure deployment
A telecommunications operator deploying people and building infrastructure in challenging environments.
The challenge
Our client was deploying teams and building telecom infrastructure under difficult, higher-risk conditions. Before operations began, they needed a clear read of the threats on the ground and a way to keep their work parties safe throughout.
How we worked
Ahead of deployment we conducted location-specific threat analysis and risk assessments, and established security policies, contingencies and crisis-response systems for both personnel and client management. We coordinated with the relevant authorities, ran on-site risk analyses before each deployment, and built crisis-management programmes as operations were planned and launched. A ground-based team developed emergency evacuation plans for security, natural-disaster and medical scenarios, and delivered personnel security-awareness training with response testing.
Outcome
Work parties deployed and operated under a clear framework, with threats assessed in advance, response plans in place, and people trained to use them — so the build could proceed on schedule.
Pandemic evacuation — multinational workforce
A multinational repatriating its deployed staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The challenge
When the COVID-19 crisis closed borders and froze travel, our client needed to move its deployed staff safely out of the region and back to their home countries — against shifting restrictions, limited infrastructure and fast-moving logistical constraints.
How we worked
We built the evacuation plan around a specific risk assessment that took every constraint and limitation into account, started it before the situation escalated, and kept it flexible enough to absorb emerging risk while keeping evacuees safe. We coordinated across all parties involved — government agencies, international organisations and local communities — with clear communication so everyone understood their role. We identified transport and logistics options, coordinated with providers, and made sure the right resources were in place.
Outcome
The client's people were brought home safely despite closed borders and collapsing travel options — on a plan that flexed with the crisis rather than breaking under it.
Risk assessment — gold-mining operation
A gold-mining operator (surface and underground).
The challenge
A gold-mining operator needed a clear, independent read of risk across its entire operation — and across the new mines and expansions it was planning — covering everything from processing and tailings to security, employee safety and the surrounding community.
How we worked
We run comprehensive risk assessments across the whole operation — mining, leaching, processing and gold recovery, tailings storage, utilities, fire protection and security — and evaluate new mines and expansions, surface or underground. Our reports cover insurance risk surveys, construction risk reviews, and asset-criticality and specialty assessments of high or complex risks. On risk management we focus on what hits mines hardest — perimeter intrusion, illegal mining and theft, equipment protection and employee safety — with community relations treated as part of the risk picture, not separate from it.
Outcome & standards
The client gained a single, prioritised view of risk across its operation and its growth plans. All our mining work follows the World Gold Council Conflict-Free Gold Standard, which operationalises the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.
Threat analysis & workforce protection — renewable-energy deployment
A renewable-energy operator deploying people and building infrastructure in challenging environments.
The challenge
Our client was deploying teams and building renewable-energy infrastructure under difficult, higher-risk conditions.
Forward Operating Base — operational support
A client running a project in a remote, high-risk location.
The challenge
Our client was running a project in a remote, difficult location, far from reliable infrastructure and support. Their teams on the ground needed a safe, self-sufficient base to operate from — and a dependable supply line to keep the work moving.
How we worked
We established a Forward Operating Base (FOB) within reach of the project — an installation sized to the task, self-sufficient and equipped with the resources the field teams needed. It gave personnel a safe, secure base of operations in a remote environment and acted as the hub for logistics and supply, coordinating movement, resources and day-to-day operational support so the teams could focus on the work itself.
Outcome
The client's teams operated effectively from a secure base, kept supplied and supported throughout — able to deliver in an environment where, without it, simply sustaining operations would have been the hardest part.
Risk advisory — port terminal acquisition
A global port and terminal operator, during acquisition negotiations.
The challenge
Our client — a major port and terminal operator — was negotiating the acquisition of a port terminal and needed to understand the full risk picture before committing: the operational, security, political and country-level risks that would come with the asset, and how they might shape the deal.
How we worked
We provided risk-management advisory throughout the acquisition negotiations. We assessed the risks attached to the target terminal and its operating environment — operational, security, political and regulatory — and translated them into a clear view the client's negotiating team could act on, so risk was weighed alongside the commercial terms rather than discovered after signing.
Outcome
The client went into negotiations with a clear, independent read of the risks it would be taking on — able to price them, plan for them, and make the decision with eyes open.
Procurement & quality control — armored-vehicle fleet maintenance
A government defence client running an armored-vehicle fleet maintenance programme.
The challenge
Our client ran a maintenance programme for a fleet of armored vehicles and needed reliable procurement and sourcing behind it — the right parts and services, from vetted suppliers, delivered to specification and quality-assured at every step. In a defence context, a weak supply line or a substandard part is not just a delay; it is a safety and mission risk.
How we worked
We managed procurement, sourcing and quality control for the fleet-maintenance programme. We identified and vetted suppliers, sourced the parts and services the programme required, and ran quality control to make sure what was delivered met specification — coordinating delivery and assuring quality so the fleet stayed maintained and available.
Outcome
The maintenance programme ran on a dependable, quality-controlled supply line — the right parts and services, from trusted suppliers, verified before they reached the fleet.
Secure logistics — national currency delivery
A national central bank and government, for the importation of a newly issued national currency.
The challenge
A country was bringing a newly issued national currency into the country — a high-value, high-sensitivity movement arriving by both air and sea. It needed end-to-end logistics, transport and protection tightly coordinated across agencies, with no weak link from arrival to final handover.
How we worked
We coordinated the logistics, transport and protection for the air and maritime entry of the new currency — planning each leg, synchronising the agencies and providers involved, and safeguarding the consignment at every stage from arrival to final handover. In an operation where a single gap is unacceptable, our role was to make sure the movement was planned, escorted and controlled end to end.
Outcome
The new currency entered the country on schedule, by air and sea, under a single coordinated plan — delivered without incident.
Counterfeit ink & toner — brand protection operation
A manufacturer of imaging supplies, countering counterfeit print consumables.
The challenge
Counterfeit ink and toner cartridges are a multi-billion-dollar global trade — the Imaging Supplies Coalition puts the counterfeit cartridge market at roughly US$3.5 billion a year. Our client needed the fakes traced from the market stalls and stores selling them back to the facilities producing them, with evidence solid enough to support enforcement action and prosecutions.
How we worked
Under the client’s directive, we collaborated with government agencies and local authorities in the involved countries to build a case for law enforcement. Once the case was established, action followed—raiding marketplaces and physical stores, seizing products, detaining those involved, and identifying the manufacturing facilities. This enabled authorities to take control of each site and seize both components and finished goods.
Outcome
Counterfeit product was taken off the market and traced to its source: stores and market stalls raided, manufacturing sites secured by law enforcement, and components and finished goods seized — disrupting the supply chain at both ends and protecting the client’s brand.
Resilience & crisis management during civil unrest
A multi-country retail operator, during an active sociopolitical crisis in one of its markets.
The challenge
A retail operator was caught in an active sociopolitical crisis — civil unrest unfolding around its people and sites in real time. It needed to keep staff safe and operations viable while the situation shifted by the hour, with no margin for a slow or improvised response.
How we worked
We built the client’s resilience and crisis-management plan and then ran it live — coordinating real-time incident response as events developed. That meant a working picture of the situation on the ground, clear decision and escalation lines, and tight coordination of the people, sites and movements at risk, so each incident was met with a planned response rather than a scramble.
Outcome
The client came through the crisis with its people accounted for and its operations held together — decisions made on current information, incidents handled as they arose, and a crisis-management capability left in place for whatever came next.
Anti-narcotics interdiction protecting exports
A commodity exporter, protecting legitimate export shipments from narcotics contamination.
The challenge
Legitimate export cargo is a target for narcotics trafficking — criminal networks seek to conceal product inside outbound shipments, putting the exporter’s goods, people and reputation at risk and threatening its access to destination markets. Our client needed its export supply chain protected end to end, with the cooperation of the authorities who police it.
How we worked
We implemented anti-narcotics interdiction programs across the client’s export supply chain, working in direct coordination with the national police counter-narcotics authorities. That combined hardened controls and inspection at the vulnerable points in the chain with a working relationship with law enforcement — so attempts to contaminate shipments were detected and interdicted before cargo left for its destination markets.
Outcome
The client’s exports were protected from narcotics contamination and continued to reach their destination markets, with interdiction handled in step with the counter-narcotics authorities rather than discovered downstream.
High-risk blackmail & reputational threat
A multinational ports and terminals operator, facing blackmail and reputational threats against the company and its people.
The challenge
A multinational operator and its personnel were the target of a high-risk blackmail and reputational threat — coercion backed by the threat of malicious public campaigns against the company and named individuals. It needed the threat contained and its people protected without the situation escalating or spilling into the public domain.
How we worked
We managed the case end to end, coordinating international response teams across the locations and disciplines involved — risk management, legal, communications and investigation — under a single plan. We worked to protect the individuals targeted, counter and discourage the malicious campaigns being threatened, and keep control of the situation so the client set the terms rather than the aggressor.
Outcome
The threat was contained and the targeted personnel protected, with the malicious campaigns discouraged before they could take hold — the matter managed discreetly and kept out of the public domain.
Specialized equipment procurement
A company launching new operations, with an immediate need for specialized equipment.
The challenge
In line with the nearshoring trend, our client was standing up new operations and had an immediate requirement for specific, specialized equipment — needed in place quickly, in an unfamiliar market where the client had no established vendor relationships of its own.
How we worked
Our sourcing specialists ran the procurement end to end — locating the required equipment, handling purchase negotiations, and coordinating the transportation logistics to get it delivered. Working through our regional and local vendor networks, we outsourced the whole procurement process for the client: sourcing high-quality personnel, services, supplies and equipment, supporting local economies, reducing cost, and expediting delivery.
Outcome
The client got the specialized equipment it needed, on time and at competitive cost — able to launch its new operations without building a procurement and vendor network from scratch, and with the complexity of sourcing in a new market handled on its behalf.
Hurricane Otis — 72-hour crisis response
A multinational manufacturer with management and commercial staff in Acapulco, during Hurricane Otis (2023).
The challenge
When Hurricane Otis struck Acapulco in October 2023 as an unprecedented Category 5 storm, our client’s operations and its people were directly in its path. With infrastructure down and the city cut off, the immediate priorities were getting personnel to safety, accounting for everyone, and getting the business running again before prolonged downtime set in.
How we worked
We collaborated to the crisis-management response end to end: coordinating the evacuation of personnel, running personnel accountability so everyone was located and safe, and driving business continuity in parallel. Working against the clock in a disaster zone, we sequenced each step — people first, then the restart of operations — under a single coordinated plan.
Outcome
Full operations were restored within 72 hours of the hurricane — personnel accounted for and safe, and the business back up and running while much of the surrounding area was still recovering.
2023 Baja 1000 — risk management & VIP logistics
A global brand hosting invited B2B executives and motorsport figures at the 2023 Baja 1000 off-road race.
The challenge
The Baja 1000 is one of the world’s toughest off-road races, run across remote, high-risk desert terrain over a continuous multi-day course. Our client was inviting key B2B executives and influential figures from motorsport to the 2023 event — guests who needed to be on the ground safely, moved efficiently between remote locations, and fully supported throughout, in an environment with little infrastructure and real exposure.
How we worked
We collaborated on risk management, logistics and guest support end to end for the client’s invited party at the event: assessing the risks along the route and at each location, planning and running the ground and air logistics to move guests between remote points, and keeping them supported and protected throughout the race. Every movement was planned and coordinated so the client’s guests could focus on the event, not the exposure.
Outcome
The client’s guests experienced the 2023 Baja 1000 up close and came away safely — moved and supported throughout a demanding, remote event, with the risk and logistics handled quietly in the background.
Crisis & incident response
A client facing a fast-moving incident — a detention, a security breach, a threat to staff abroad — needs calm, coordinated support within hours. Griffon stands up a response structure, manages information flow, and works alongside the client's leadership until the situation is resolved.
Risk assessment & safe operations
Before entering a new market or re-opening a difficult one, a client needs a clear, honest read of the risks and a practical plan to operate within them. Griffon delivers an assessment grounded in the realities on the ground, with proportionate measures rather than theatre.
Due diligence & integrity
A client weighing a partner, acquisition, or counterparty needs to know who they are really dealing with. Griffon conducts lawful, open-source and ethical due diligence so decisions are made with eyes open.
If you would like to discuss a specific situation, or review anonymised case studies relevant to your sector, we are happy to talk — in confidence.
